Description
Description
The ancient Egyptians were among the first to develop pin tumbler locks, which used a wooden bolt with movable pins that aligned with corresponding holes in the door frame. The lock prevented movement by dropping pins into the bolt's holes, and could only be opened with a key that lifted the pins, allowing the bolt to slide. This early security innovation laid the grounwork for modern locks, which still operate on the same basic principles but with more advanced materials. The use of pin locks highlights the Egypitans' ingenuity in safeguarding valuables and their contribution to technological advancement in ancient civilizations.
